Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Funding at Langley Green Primary School

Background

The Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. These include pupils who are entitled to free school meals, those who are looked after by the Local Authority and children of armed service personnel. The intended effect of this funding is to accelerate progress and raise attainment. It is for the school to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to the school by the number of children receiving free school meals, is spent, since we are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for individual pupils. All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received, how it is used and the impact of any work done.

Funding is used as follows:-

  • To provide intervention programmes for underachieving pupils and those with Special Educational Needs.

  • To employ additional teachers and support staff who provide a targeted level of support to some of our most vulnerable children so as they can make the progress expected of them.

  • To provide one to one tuition for some pupils.

  • To subsidise educational visits, including residential trips, for example by funding transport or board and lodgings.

  • To help with the cost of school uniform.

Due to Covid-19, and pupils’ missing education within school, the end of year review for the Academic Year 2019/2020 has not been finalised.
